You will find that we like to run friendly and relaxed courses. However, there are certain rules in place. Ultimately breaking these rules may result in you being sent home without refund, where possible you will be allowed to continue with the course on a non-residential basis. The most important rules are as follows:
No alcohol anywhere on site, and alcohol must not be consumed whilst you are on the course (even if you are off campus, or aged over 18)
No smoking/vaping in any buildings or anywhere on campus other than the designated smoking area
No intimidation, harassment or other forms of bullying are tolerated. Students may be removed from the course, for safeguarding purposes, if deemed necessary
Common rooms and kitchens are not accessible during the day, with the exception of lunchtime, and will be locked
You must be in a hall of residence by 9pm, and in your rooms by 10pm
If you are staying in the boys boarding house, you cannot go into any of the girls boarding house bedrooms, and vice versa
There should be no more than 3 additional students in any one bedroom, i.e. the maximum number of people in a bedroom is the number of people accommodated in the room plus 3
If you are a residential student, between 9pm and 7am you must be in your own boarding house
Between 10pm and 7am you must be in your own room
If you are aged 15 or under, you must remain on campus at all times, unless accompanied by a member of staff. If you are staying over on a Friday evening or on the weekend, you are able to leave the course premises, without staff supervision, once timetabled classes have finished, on the Friday afternoon. Students aged 15 or under, are required to return to the course premises, prior to the 7pm sign in on Sunday evening
If you do leave campus, you must sign in and out on the sheet provided
No use of the common rooms is allowed between 10pm and 7am
Non-residential students must be offsite by 9pm at the latest
No noise between 10pm and 7am. This includes talking to your roommates, or using your phone
No moving bedrooms without permission(if you wish to swap, please contact the office staff for fire safety reasons)
Please keep your room tidy
Any damage or mess will be the responsibility of those who created it – when necessary you will be billed for repair or cleaning work
Setting off fire alarms or tampering with fire/safety equipment will result in a fine (minimum of £50) and being sent home/offsite immediately
No furniture, bedding, etc to be removed from any buildings
If you wish to leave the course early, please contact the course office
Lanyards
All students are given a lanyard to wear on our Easter and Summer Courses. There is a £10 refundable fee applied to the invoice for this. The refund is made upon completion of the course and successful return of the lanyard. In some cases, the £10 will not be refunded and an additional £25 may be charged for lost lanyards.
We hope that common sense will guide you through the other rules (e.g.no physical violence, no drunkenness, no drugs, no stealing, no bullying etc),however please contact the course office if you have any questions. Consequences of rule breaking range from being noted on your report, which is sent to your parents, through to immediate expulsion from the course, without refund.
We want you to have a good time here but do also need to make sure we have an environment where those that want to sleep or work can do so safely and in peace.
