Joining Instructions

1. Where is the course being held?
There are two course delivery options:
The Autumn Half Term Course is being held in person at the d’Overbroeck’s teaching site of Senior School, 19 Leckford Rd, Oxford, OX2 6HY or Online via Microsoft Teams.

2. What time do I start and finish?
You will be sent an email containing your individual schedule confirmation around a week before the course starts, this will denote your timings which may not be the same for all days.  Your schedule will either run from 9.30am to 4.20pm or 10.20am to 5.10pm.  Face to face students should aim to arrive 10 minutes prior to their class start time to familiarise themselves with the rooming list and to locate their classroom.  Online students should aim to be logged into Microsoft Teams 10 minutes before the start of their first lesson to allow time to register and ensure their connection is working.

3. How do I access my online classes and what happens when I log in?
You will be sent an email around a week before the course starts with your own individual @oxford-education-online.com email account, password and guides to teams and online tuition. This will help you set up your account and explain how to access your classes on the day. When you log in on the day, please register with the OXSS teams. They will message you on Teams, so please do get in touch.

4. Will lunch be provided?
Lunch is not provided on this course.
You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or there are several shops and cafes within walking distance.

5. Can I book a residential place?
Sadly we are not offering a residential option for this course.

1. Where is the course being held?
   Classroom teaching is being held at: Oxford Sixth Form College, 12 King Edward Street, Oxford, OX1 4HT.
   
   Boarding is held at the below locations, split depending on week:
   Sunday 28^th July and Week 1: Oxford International College, 3 Thames Street, Oxford, OX1 1EQ
   Sunday 4^th August and Week 2: Oxford International College, 3 Thames Street, Oxford, OX1 1EQ
   Sunday 11^th August ONLY: Oxford International College, 3 Thames Street, Oxford, OX1 1EQ
    Week 3, from Monday 12^th August: Oxford Sixth Form College, 28-31 St Ebbes Street, Oxford, OX1 1PU

   Note: These locations are in the city centre, direct access and parking are therefore extremely limited – there is no parking directly available to us nor a drop of location outside of the tuition or accommodation location. Travelling by car into the city centre is strictly controlled and enforced and it is highly advised to check your route and source alternative travel or nearby parking to make the final part of the journey by bus or on foot.
   
   
2. What time should I arrive?
   Students should arrive between the times indicated below:
   
   Sunday Arrivals:
   Residential Students – 5pm to 7pm *only if you have booked accommodation for this night*
   Note: Week 3 students, staying on the night of Sunday 11^th August are to arrive to the accommodation location of Oxford International College, Thames Street, moving to Oxford Sixth Form College, St Ebbes Street on Monday 12^th August.
   
   Monday Arrivals – All Weeks at Oxford International College, Thames Street
   Residential Students – 9am to 10.30am
   Day Only Students – 10am to 10.30am
   
   Tuesday to Friday – All Weeks at Oxford Sixth Form College, King Edward Street
   Day Only Students should arrive by 8.55am
   
   
3. What happens when I arrive?
   Upon arrival, a member of the Oxford Science Studies team will greet you.  Arrivals can be particularly busy, if no staff member is available to assist you, please wait and we will be with you as soon as possible. If it is your first week, we will provide you with your course folder, this will include your timetable for the week along with important course details, such as the course rules.  We will go through your folder with you so this is your opportunity to double check your allocated classes and ask any questions you might have.  If you are a residential student for Weeks 1 and 2, we will take you to your room, so that you can get settled. If you are a residential student for Week 3, we will store your luggage and take you to your boarding house later in the day. The Course Introduction, ice breaker and campus tour will take place on Monday morning, following arrivals.  Lessons will begin after lunch. For the following days you are to sign in at ‘Registration’ as denoted on your timetable. Please ensure that you arrive on time, by 8.55am.
   
   
4. What time will I finish?
   Students should depart between the times indicated below:
   
   Monday to Thursday: 
   Day Only Students – 5pm
   Friday:
   All Students – 4.15pm to 4.30pm
   Saturday:
   You will need to vacate your room by 9am
   
   All students will need to vacate their rooms by 8.30am on Friday, the last day of the course, luggage will be stored at the tuition location until your departure later that afternoon. All departures will be from Oxford Sixth Form College.
   
   Some residential students may need to leave earlier to catch a flight.  Sadly, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to reschedule lessons and a refund will not be available for any time missed.  If a student does need to depart early, please do let us know.
   
   
5. What do residential students do in the evening?
   
   Our residential courses provide an all-rounded experience, with a rigorous academic timetable throughout the day and an enjoyable social programme arranged for the evening. Engaging in our Evening Entertainment Programme is not only the ideal opportunity to have some relaxation time but also to work on personal development, interacting with new people and building friendships. 7. Why is there a supplementary charge for A Level and IB English, Geography and History?
   These subjects have many options, and we find that they are almost always taught on a one-to-one basis. If it turns out that students are taught in a group, then the £50 one-to-one fee will be refunded. The £50 fee does not guarantee one-to-one tuition and we do not offer guaranteed one-to-one for any subject during the Summer Course.
